A new noodle

So i made spaghetti for dinner tonight with the yummiest corn/quinoa noodle i've had yet! I believe it's called ancient harvest and it's completely gluten free and cooks just like a regular wheat noodle. I made shells with dinner tonight and i'm going back to the store for more of these goodies! It certainly makes life easier finding something to substitute such a tall order as the traditonal spaghetti noodle. Quinoa on it's own is tricky business with me because i really don't enjoy the taste of it, some people say it's just like couscous but i don't agree, quinoa always has a weird taste unless it's buried in a good dish. This box of noodles was the perfect combination of corn and quinoa, super cool and very satisfying. I never thought a simple noodle could make me so happy but after living with food allergies for almost two years now, it's wonderful to find products like these. Maybe i'll write them a letter telling them how great there noodles are!!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

I like to make a smoothie in the morning, because it's quick and easy and very yummy!

sliced strawberries
1 banana
1 cup strawberry yogurt
1 cup rice milk

Blend and blend on high and you're good to go! This makes more than enough for a tall glass and some extra, which usually goes right to my daughter as soon as she hears the blender, it's totally cute because she's two and loves "strawbee's". And on a side note, most of my recipes are dairy free, but i'm able to tolerate some yogurt for some reason, so i use lowfat tillamook or preferably organic yogurt (growth hormones are so scary!). Mmm Mmmm, i hope today is going to be as good as my smoothie!!!

Hemp Butter?

So i think it's pretty cruel and hilarious that i am now searching for a butter alternative. Last night we had baked potato's and they were excellent, but as i was watching buttering my kids potato's i was getting a bit depressed because i can no longer indulge in such things. I haven't really looked around for a good substitute and i'm not a fan of margarine (FYI it's a big no no for you liver!) soooo i started my search where i look for everything in life, on the internet. I think i googled gluten free butter substitute and it came up with hemp butter as a top search result. I think that is unfair and weird because my whole life i've been allergic to weed (at concerts i would always get stuck by the big stinky armpit guy who would be toking up before the band went on stage. Even contact highs made me sick, i should've known this was where i was heading LOL). Anyway, now i'm thinking about different butter alternatives, not too jazzed about diving into a jar of hemp butter anytime soon, that's the last thing i need to start clawing my skin and having breathing problems from trying to add some funsies to my baked potato.
